Coronation Sussex
A Rare, "Royal" Breed
The Coronation Sussex is an ancient breed created to celebrate the coronation of King George! They were a favorite staple for royal feasts and at heavy weights, these gentle giants became an instant coveted breed. They were only recently imported into the United States and are still considered to be very rare. The first pair offered for sale in the U.S. sold for $5,000!
The coronation has pearl colored plumage with a regal lavender mane and tail. They are incredibly winter/cold weather hardy and are prolific egg layers, often out-producing other breeds such as Orpingtons. They grow quickly and are incredibly docile. Our Coronation Sussex were purchased as NPIP and AI clean eggs from specialty breeders in Virginia and Louisiana. We added a new rooster from different bloodlines from Missouri in 2019.
